The Chongqing Liangjiang School of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Innovation Council was established in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing, on June 9, upon the third anniversary of the school's founding.
Luo Lin, deputy secretary of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Party Work Committee and director of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Administrative Committee, and Kang Qian, Party secretary of Chongqing University of Technology, attended the event.
Representatives from Ping An Insurance Group, DeepBlue Technology, Chinasoft International Ltd, and Changan Auto also participated in the ceremony.
Luo Lin delivered a keynote speech, saying Liangjiang has welcomed 35 top-class national and overseas universities and research institutions, and attracted a large number of outstanding AI-related enterprises to settle and start businesses in the new area. The AI school's newly-established innovation council will boost innovation capacity of the school and also the new area in the AI field.
Kang Qian said the number of college students and graduates at the AI school has nearly reached 2,000. The new council will strengthen the school's power in terms of talent training and technological advancement.
Founded on June 9, 2018, Chongqing Liangjiang School of Artificial Intelligence is a major engineering demonstration institute funded and constructed by the Chongqing University of Technology, with a complete professional discipline system that has its AI major at its core.
The school's intelligent science and technology major ranks 37th among the 194 universities in China, and its data science and big data technology major ranks 86th nationally.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
