The China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization forum on digital economy will be staged in Chongqing from Aug 23-25 with a theme of "promoting common prosperity by developing digital economy."
The event includes an opening ceremony, agreements' signing, discussion sessions and exhibitions focusing on the digital economy industry and new development directions. Participants will explore new communication models, promote a new ecosystem of cooperation and showcase new development achievements.
Last November, President Xi Jinping announced China would host a China-SCO forum on digital economy in 2021 in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality while addressing the 20th meeting of the organization's Council of Heads of State via video link.
The forum will provide a platform for innovation cooperation among the parties, Xi said.
It has been confirmed that the guests who will attend this forum online and offline come from all the 18 member countries of the organization, including China, as well as relevant persons in charge of the organization's Secretariat, Business Council and Youth Council.
"This forum will give full play to Chongqing's advantages in smart manufacturing and the development of digital economy industries and help the city gather more global innovation resources," said Cai Yunge, deputy mayor of Chongqing.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
