According to local news reports, the main steel structure of the joint industrial incubation base in the coordinative innovation zone in Liangjiang New Area was recently roofed.
Located south of the coordinative innovation zone, the incubation base occupies a total construction area of 221,300 square meters and contains 17 buildings, including a technology exhibition hall, a higher-education R&D area, a service apartment building, a scientific innovation town, and an energy center. Nearly 20,000 metric tons of steel are used in the base.
The base will offer infrastructure for the innovation platforms of more than 10 universities and research institutes, such as Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tongji University, and Jilin University.
It will also work to bring in more than 2,000 innovative talents and more than 100 research teams and help Liangjiang become an intelligent inland window into China for the outside world.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
