News from the Liangjiang government suggests that the new area will officially begin building the Lijia Mountain Promenade by the end of this year.
The promenade is 83 kilometers long in total, with the first phase being 32.15 km. A cycle path will be built there, which will be Chongqing's first circular cycle route.
"We aim to build a promenade with ample natural resources and make it a popular walkway with practical and aesthetic functions," said Chen Qiang, a government official of Liangjiang New Area.
According to Chen, the phase-one project will also feature intelligent barrier-free fitness routes, 4D magical gallery bridges that offer venues for sporting events, family activities, and welfare campaigns.
Washrooms, courtier stations, drinking water systems, and shower rooms will also be installed along the promenade.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
