Liangjiang New Area has been going all out in its efforts to attract more high-end talent through a variety of approaches, according to reports from People's Daily.
In November 2018, the Chongqing Liangjiang Coordinative Zone was officially established, with many areas for university and research institutes, scientific laboratories, future industries, industrial transformation, innovative teams and enterprises, digital economy and modern services. An international community for high-end personnel was also created in the zone.
By strengthening the university-enterprise partnership with Chongqing University, Liangjiang launched its new engineering talent education and research platform in June 2020, and the new area also formed corresponding talent training programs and helped universities to foster students based on their own advantages in technology, equipment, and capital.
The coordinative zone is currently home to 38 open and international research institutions, more than 90 scientific research teams, and over 1,500 innovative talents, and the number of talents holding doctorate degrees has exceeded 500.
The talent policy issued by the government offers guidelines on things such as incentive mechanisms, entrepreneurship support, and housing subsidies.
A slew of business incubators and innovation platforms for overseas returnees and post-doctors, as well as talent apartment communities in Longxing, Yufu, and Shuitu new cities, have also been built.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
