An experience exchange meeting for the automobile manufacturer alliance in Liangjiang New Area and Tianfu New District was held via video link on Nov 18, attended by government officials and company representatives from the two sides.
Li Jie, deputy director of Liangjiang's administrative committee, said that the meeting was a platform for auto firms from Tianfu and Liangjiang to establish dialogue, highlighting that it was a special occasion which they could use to discuss the future trends of the industry.
Shi Jianhua, deputy secretary general of China Association of Automobile Manufactures, released a report on the state of the industry, revealing key achievements made during the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) period, and introducing major targets and goals for the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25).
A cooperation proposal was announced at the event by Li Kaiguo, president of China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Co. He proposed that members of the alliance should coordinate their work and raise their core competencies and market influence in the Chengdu-Chongqing region.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
