Leading automobile manufacturer – Geely Technology Group – based in Hangzhou, signed a contract with Chongqing Municipal People's Government on Nov 26 for strategic cooperation. Geely will base its western headquarters in Liangjiang New Area, stimulating the new area's development.
In addition to the headquarters, Geely will establish an innovative research institute and an industry-school-research integrated platform, and work with the local government to boost enterprises at the upper and lower reaches of the auto industry, to promote Chongqing's progress in high-tech sectors.
This cooperation will allow Liangjiang to continue to focus on transforming and upgrading automobiles, industrial internet, and sci-tech finance.
To date, Geely launched several projects featuring high-end new energy vehicles, industrial internet, and finance. It will allocate its global resources to contribute to the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
