The State Council recently approved the renaming of the "Chongqing Lianglu Cuntan Comprehensive Bonded Zone (CBZ)" to "Chongqing Lianglu Guoyuan Port Comprehensive Bonded Zone".
The adjusted CBZ includes a planned area of 6.49 square kilometers. The port area of the original Lianglu Cuntan CBZ will be put under the administration of Guoyuan port, and four centers will be built for bonded services, international distribution, R&D, bulk trade, maintenance and testing, while a global trading and logistic network for automobiles, auto spare parts, electronic products and high-end equipment will also be developed.
The park will also establish an international commodity circulation and bulk commodity trading and distribution system, and take full advantage of the significant role of Guoyuan port as a national logistic hub in the Belt and Road Initiative as well as in the Yangtze River Economic Belt to launch eco-friendly bonded monitoring and global maintenance businesses with high added values, which will inject new momentum into Chongqing's open economy.
Qin Shubin, member of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Party Work Committee and vice-director of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Administrative Committee, said the new CBZ will help Liangjiang New Area build industrial clusters in bonded processing, air logistics, cross-border e-commerce, and global trade.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
