Senci Electric Machinery Co, founded in 1990, is a leading domestic company producing small-sized generators. It is included in the first group of little giant firms by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and is one of Chongqing's 53 industrial chain chiefs.
The company on April 11 signed an agreement with Shenzhen Liye Group Co and Advanced Electronics Energy Co and decided to invest 1.3 billion yuan ($203.58 million) in a smart device manufacturing base in Shuitu New City, which is located in Liangjiang New Area.
The base will reportedly include the firm's headquarters operation center, R&D center, and smartcloud control plant. "We will build the most complete research and testing platform in our R&D center," said an official from the firm.
The manufacturing base will be divided into two phases of construction, with the first one to be launched in June and the second one in June of next year.
Shuitu New city is an important electronic information area of Liangjiang that has in recent years made full use of its idle assets, including workshops, land, and office buildings, to promote more investments.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
