Liangjiang New Area in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, is doubling down on efforts to complete and extend its high-end equipment manufacturing industrial chain.
Last year, the new area registered 40.59 billion yuan ($6.06 billion) in output in the sector, up 30.3 percent compared with the same period in 2020.
Zhang Li, deputy director of the new area's administrative committee and chief of the high-end equipment manufacturing industrial chain, said the industry now features equipment for new energy, robotics, engineering machinery and rail transit.
Liangjiang will continue striving to achieve the dual-carbon goals by promoting the development and application of emission-reducing and low-carbon equipment and the intelligent power grid; focus on core spare parts such as electrical machinery, lasers, reducers, and controllers; accelerate the construction of Sany's Chongqing smart manufacturing industrial park; and support enterprises in conducting research on rail transit signal systems, traction control systems, and vehicle repair.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
