A livestream to promote agricultural products was launched recently by Chongqing Rural Commercial Bank. The livestream has attracted more than 25,000 viewers in less than three hours. So far, the activity has sold 3,987 items worth about 313,000 yuan ($46,605.7) and received 64,000 likes.
A total of 16 carefully selected agricultural products from Tongliang district, Dazu district and 11 other districts and counties in western Chongqing were promoted on a municipal rural e-commerce comprehensive service platform – Cunshop – which is based in the digital economy industrial park of Liangjiang New Area.
A rich variety of high-quality special agricultural products from western Chongqing used to see disappointing sales due to weak transportation infrastructure, high logistics costs, lack of storage facilities and professional promotion awareness.
More than 1,000 kinds of these products are now being promoted on the platform. In addition to livestreams, Cunshop also seeks to expand the brands' influence through community group buying, corporate group shopping and more.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
