The second phase of SANY’s smart manufacturing industrial park based in the Liangjiang New Area was launched on July 1. Focusing on the production of cranes and other related machines, the second phase will occupy a total construction area of about 170,000 square meters and involve a total investment of 3 billion yuan ($448.2 million). It will be the second “lighthouse factory” in Liangjiang and facilitate the high-quality development of the region’s high-end equipment industry.
Zhang Li, deputy director of the new area’s administrative committee, announced the commencement of the second phase of the industrial park project.
It took SANY just nine months to complete construction on the first phase, which has a 200,000-sq m workshop producing excavators. As the new area’s first lighthouse workshop, the first phase has collectively generated 12 billion yuan in industrial output for Liangjiang.
“This is SANY’s important layout in response to the government’s Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle initiative. From now on, the company will continue to focus on western China and seek to enhance the smart manufacturing sector in Southwest China via its bases in Chongqing,” said a senior manager of SANY surnamed Qiu.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
