The Fourth Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT) concluded on July 24, with agreements for 104 projects signed at the signing ceremony. Among them, 66 projects will be based in Chongqing, involving a total investment of 222.85 billion yuan ($32.91 billion).
Project agreements signed by the Liangjiang New Area involved the fields of life and health, digital economy and modern finance. The total contract volume was 22.88 billion yuan.
At the 2022 WCIFIT, the Ministry of Commerce held a travel activity for international companies, resulting in Ford, Samsung, Hewlett-Packard, SK and 19 other such companies visiting Chongqing, 17 of which were visiting for the first time.
There were 12 themed pavilions occupying an area of 160,000 square meters, and three new exhibition areas for modern manufacturing, modern services and cross-border e-commerce.
The international pavilion saw 77 overseas participants from 16 countries and regions, who showcased their special products.
The event also featured a cross-border e-commerce trade fair for the first time and attracted a number of Fortune 500 companies and renowned cross-border e-commerce platforms, including eBay, Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Alibaba and JD International.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
