Seven new schools have opened in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, providing more than 5,000 additional enrollment slots for locals, according to news from the new area's bureau of education.
Jinshan Yuncui Primary School, one of the seven new schools, is located in the new area's Yuanyang sub-district, has a total area of 26,000 square meters and has received 400 million yuan ($59.96 million) in investment. Its second phase that recently opened has 28 classes with 1,260 enrollment slots.
The school has fields and tennis courts on the roofs of its teaching buildings, and the field has various types of vegetation, allowing students to try their hands at gardening.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
