Delegates to the 20th CPC National Congress from Southwest China's Chongqing municipality arrived in Beijing on Oct 13.
While aboard the plane, they took a look back on Chongqing's development over the past decade and offered their own perspectives.
Liu Guizhong, a delegate to the 20th CPC National Congress and head of the Chongqing Bureau of Rural Revitalization, said that the country has attached great importance to poverty alleviation work. Chongqing has eradicated absolute poverty, with the 1,919 registered impoverished villages having now shaken off poverty.
Wang Chunquan, a delegate to the 20th CPC National Congress and director of the comprehensive workshop of a local manufacturer, said that in recent years, China has been working extra hard to promote the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry, and the quality of production technologies has improved remarkably. Chongqing is a traditional manufacturing hub, and has attracted many local and migrant workers looking to work and live in the city. Wang expressed his hope that more young people can get involved in the manufacturing business and inject new vitality into Chongqing's high-quality development.
Xie Lan, a delegate to the 20th CPC National Congress and Party secretary of Xingjiaqiao community in Liangjiang New Area, said that the grass-roots cadres have taken a more practical approach to handling problems of utmost concern to the people.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
