The city sports park at the Lijia sub-district cultural activity center was inaugurated in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality on Oct 20. It is the second community sports park put into use this year in the new area.
The construction of the park, which has a total area of 2,500 square meters, began on Sept 24. Standard basketball courts, fields for badminton and table tennis players, as well as smart facilities for physical exercise have been put into place to meet the diverse needs of nearby residents.
Users can scan the QR codes on the exercise machines to watch videos about how to use them. They can also form their own exercise plans, check relevant data, and share with friends via their phones.
This year, the Liangjiang government plans to set up a series of standardized sports parks using unused space or the existing public fitness plazas in the old residential areas, and the city sports park at the Lijia sub-district cultural activity center is among them.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
