The National Medical Products Administration and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently released a project list for the national artificial intelligence (AI) medical equipment innovation tasks, which included the "respiratory medicine AI medical equipment and real data application platform" project jointly submitted by Professor Zheng Jinping from a Guangzhou-based medical university and the Nanpeng Artificial Intelligence Research Institute.

AI medical equipment relies largely on data, and data volume directly affects how well it functions. But usually, access to medical data is highly restricted. Hospitals, on the one hand, have access to medical data but lack the technology, while big data enterprises, on the other hand, lack medical data but have the technological know-how.

In light of this, the research team of the "respiratory medicine AI medical equipment and real data application platform" project will process the original medical data so that they can be used for AI research and evaluation. The project is expected to provide diagnostic references, cut down the workload in image interpretation for medical workers, and predict the future condition of patients suffering from respiratory diseases.

The Nanpeng Artificial Intelligence Research Institute based in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality has successfully developed four applications, such as an integrated platform for the monitoring, pre-warning, treatment and emergency treatment of respiratory diseases, as well as a big data health platform.
