Chongqing Guoyuan Port Co, located in the Liangjiang New Area of Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, reported a one-day cargo throughput of 59,000 metric tons, a new high for this year.
The company's business has not been affected by the increasingly severe pandemic situation in Chongqing. Four commandos consisting of the company's nearly 300 Party members have been established, accounting for 80 percent of its workers.
Employees work in shifts, keeping the port running 24 hours a day. In addition, new regulations on loading and unloading time have taken effect to ensure work efficiency at the port. For example, 250 containers should be loaded or unloaded within two hours, while 50 coal trucks should be unloaded within three hours.
From Nov 10 to 15, Chongqing Guoyuan Port Co registered a daily throughput of 45,000 tons of cargo.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
