Aiming to set a good example of how to build an international, sustainable, intelligent and human-based modern city, Liangjiang New Area in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality is focusing on the in-depth integration of the city, industry and landscape, as well as the upgrading of Yufu, Longxing and Shuitu new cities.
Liangjiang's planned construction area is 1,200 square kilometers, more than half of which consists of rivers, mountains and other landscapes. More than 130 parks have been built in the new area, with a greening rate of 41.47 percent and per capita green space of 12.58 square meters.
Smartness is another major characteristic of Liangjiang. More smart workshops and lighthouse factories have been set up in the new area, and over the first seven months of this year, Liangjiang's software and information service output reached 47.9 billion yuan ($6.69 billion), accounting for 24.6 percent of Chongqing's total.
In addition, people living and working in the new area are entitled to many kinds of smart facilities and services. In the Lijia Smart Park, unmanned buses, smart trails which can record residents' fitness data, and a smart working stadium which can transfer conference content in real time and translate it into many other languages are all available.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
