Chongqing Litosim Co – a developer of computer aided engineering (CAE) software that focuses on the R&D of controllable industrial simulation software and CAE software – was founded in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality in 2018. This year, the company has won the industrial software innovation award. The award was given by the national software innovative application competition. Litosim was the only winner in its field.
Li Bo, founder and CEO of Litosim, said that the CAE software is the industrial software used for the research, development and design of products. The widespread application of the CAE software is due to its ability to simulate real trials and test products' functionalities with the aid of computers, thus saving testing costs for enterprises.
About 90 percent of China CAE software products used to be imported from European countries and the United States. Domestic enterprises had to pay large fees for the use of these products every year. Determined to change the situation, Li cooperated with Professor Feng Zhiqiang at Xi'an Jiaotong University to found Litosim after he finished his studies abroad in 2018, and began his independent research on the localization of CAE software.
When asked about the reason why he chose Liangjiang to start his business, Li said that the new area boasted a developed manufacturing sector, and a complete industrial chain, which can provide sufficient CAE software application scenarios. In addition, Liangjiang's preferential business environment also boosted his confidence.
"The R&D cycle for CAE software is long, and is often with big investments. Researchers not only need to absorb technical knowledge from a variety of disciplines, but they also have to get to know the latest and cutting-edge sci-tech results and advanced technologies," said Li.
At present, Litosim has two targeted markets – the automobile and electronics sectors – which are the two backbone industries of Chongqing.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
