The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development recently praised Chongqing's technological approach to developing prefabricated buildings, as well as their relevant supporting policies. The ministry also recognized that Chongqing's success in prefabricated buildings is applicable for the rest of China.
For example, based on its mountainous terrain, the municipality has formed a safe, economical, and stable technological system that will lead the large-scale and standardized development of prefabricated construction.
Chongqing's building industrialization level is among the highest in western China, and the city has been selected to be a pilot city for smart construction and a model city for prefabricated buildings.
So far, the municipality has launched 40 million square meters of prefabricated building construction. By 2025, the prefabricated building proportions within Chonqing will reach 30 percent, and Chongqing's modern construction industry output will exceed 300 billion yuan ($41.88 billion).
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
