The third World Digital Economy Forum was recently unveiled in Chengdu, Southwest China's Sichuan province.
Cai Guangzhong, general manager of information technology giant Tencent in Southwest China, gave a speech during the event, explaining how the company helped Chongqing in its rural vitalization endeavor through the use of digital technologies.
"Rural areas are more spread out than urban areas, so it is more important to give people access to other people and services through digital approaches," Cai said.
Centering on digitalized rural governance, Tencent has launched its three major products – Enterprise WeChat, Tencent Cloud Documentation, and Tencent Meeting so that rural grassroots governance can be carried out in a more targeted and digital manner.
Tencent has also established an information-based governance service platform that covers more than 100,000 villagers in Chongqing's Wuxi county.
Based on rural tourism and industrial resources in Chongqing, Tencent has also developed a variety of application scenarios that promote the upgrading of local industries and the integration of culture and tourism.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
