Along with the strengthened efforts to resume production and work in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, many restaurants, shopping malls, farm produce markets, supermarkets and business complexes have opened again.
By Dec 3, 24 large-scale supermarkets and more than 2,200 convenience stores and drug stores in Liangjiang New Area resumed operations.
Livestreaming became a popular promotional method to stimulate consumption, and has brought sales increases to business operators.
Liao Chenglin, professor from the School of Economics and Business Administration of Chongqing University, believes that Chongqing's consumption market will finally restore its previous prosperity, but during this short period of time, there will not be as many consumers as expected.
In regard to this, experts suggest that in addition to rolling out promotional campaigns, sellers need to develop more attractive and competent business models, products and consumption scenarios. For example, they can create a children's paradise store integrating science promotion, displays, interactions, performances, parent-kid activities and other recreations.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
