Liangjiang New Area in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality will construct the Chongqing Satellite Internet Industrial Park and start a corresponding investment fund as well as a municipal digital economy innovative development firm.
The move comes as the new area prioritizes the high-quality development of manufacturing and strives to establish an influential aerospace and aviation industrial cluster in China.
The new industrial park will adopt a brand-new satellite internet industrial ecosystem and digital economy model and strengthen the integrated application of digital medical services, digital finance, intelligent connected vehicles, and emergency management.
The existing office buildings of the Liangjiang Coordinated Innovation Zone will be used to attract more businesses in testing, digital twin, data integration, automobiles, drones, data transmission and ship positioning.
Liangjiang is planning to build a core satellite internet and application industry, focusing on five major sectors – commercial spaceflight R&D and manufacturing, drones, aerospace power, general aviation, and new materials for aerospace and aviation, and construct the "aviation +" supporting industry. These will form a unique "1+5+1" industrial development layout.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
