A municipal work conference was held in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality on Jan 31, clarifying a series of goals and targets to achieve for 2023, emphasizing its manufacturing and digital economy goals.
The government was urged to focus on the recovery of industrial sectors, and to improve the innovative capabilities and overall competence of local manufacturers. It will also lead industrial upgrading, promote the in-depth integration of modern services and advanced manufacturing, and enhance the vitality of market entities.
To beef up its digital economy, more efforts will be made in building a digital government and creating new digital living scenarios for locals, while also progressing in Chengdu-Chongqing cooperation in regards to big data.
In 2023, the added value of industries above a designated size in Chongqing is anticipated to grow by 8 percent, its manufacturing investment is expected to grow by more than 12 percent, and the sales revenue of its software and information service trade will increase by 20 percent.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
