Zhang Hongxing, secretary of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Party Work Committee, led a team to visit Beijing and Shanghai – two of China's metropolises, on Feb 8-9.
During the tour of Beijing, the team visited the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) and exchanged opinions with staff members there on how to deepen cooperation between the central government and the new area.
Showing gratitude for the support SASAC has given to Liangjiang, Zhang said that the new area is currently pressing forward with industrial transformation and upgrading, and is accelerating the development of a modern industrial system, in which automobile and electronic information are the two pillar industries. The system also features multiple strategic emerging industries, such as smart manufacturing, biomedicine, aerospace and aviation, and new materials.
Officials from SADAC said that they will further support the socioeconomic development of Liangjiang while taking into consideration the new area's local conditions and development trajectory, as well as promote practical collaboration between the central and regional governments.
The team headed for Fosun International in Shanghai, a global innovation-driven consumer group dedicated to providing high-quality products and services for families around the world.
Guo Guangchang, president of Fosun, highlighted Liangjiang's solid industrial foundation and friendly business environment, and expressed his confidence in the cooperation. Fosun was willing to expand its investments in the new area to contribute to Liangjiang's high-quality development.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
