The Chongqing and Chengdu governments in Southwest China jointly issued an action plan to promote the market integration of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, which is a response to the central government's request to build a unified national market.
The action plan clarified four major aspects for future work, which include market infrastructure, resource circulation environment, market mechanisms and regulations, and regional market supervision.
For example, Chengdu and Chongqing will build an integrated comprehensive transport network, improve their logistics operation capacities, optimize their business and trade circulation systems, and promote information sharing in public resource transactions.
Joint efforts will also be made in cross-regional market supervision, consumers' right protection, and cracking down on illegal competitive and monopolistic behaviors.
In March last year, the State Council released its proposals on accelerating the establishment of a unified national market, encouraging the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, and other such areas to prioritize market integration construction.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
