The bureau of ecology and environment of Liangjiang New Area, located in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, recently signed a cooperation memorandum on climate-based investment and financing with its counterpart in Chengdu Tianfu New Area.
The two sides will join efforts in standard system recognition, platform sharing, expert teams and think tank building, project information sharing, and conference holding to guide more capital into projects related to climate change.
In 2022, the two new areas were selected as national pilot zones for climate-based financing and investment. The move facilitated the acceleration towards the nation's dual carbon goals, and was also significant for the environmental protection of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Zone.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
