Liangjiang New Area in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality has become home to 190 Fortune 500 companies, which accounts for 50 percent of Chongqing's total, according to a local news report on March 5.
Currently, the new area is implementing foreign investment laws while also trying to establish a cross-department foreign investor complaint coordination mechanism. The new area is improving its efficiency in handling complaints to create a market-oriented, law-based and international business environment.
Meanwhile, the majority of government affairs in the new area can now be dealt with at a single window at the government service hall, and about 95 of them can be handled online.
In addition, rights protection channels in the new area have increased as the free trade zone court, the international arbitration center and other such kinds of institutions were set up.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
