The Sichuan Tianfu New District People's Court (The People's Court of the Sichuan Pilot Free Trade Zone) and The Chongqing Liangjiang New Area People's Court (The People's Court of the Chongqing Pilot Free Trade Zone) recently signed a judicial collaboration agreement on the New Western Land-Sea Corridor.
The agreement urged the two sides to further clarify the laws and their applicability to the countries involved in the corridor. It also states that the two parties will improve the efficiency of their one-stop overseas business dispute mechanism.
The two courts are expected to extend their judicial functions, and equally protect legal rights of investors from countries involved in the corridor. They will facilitate the building of a law-based business environment, focus on the cases involving international trade, foreign investments and logistics, as well as jointly hold seminars to discuss related judicial services.
As the first people's court covering all parts of a free trade zone, the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area People's Court has handled 936 foreign trade cases, which involved 53 countries and regions, including Russia, India and Thailand. It has also provided a powerful legal guarantee for Chongqing's integration into the global supply chain and global industrial chain.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
