The Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT) is scheduled to open on May 18-21 in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, according to a news conference on May 10.

The 2023 New International Land-Sea Corridor Cooperation Forum will also be unveiled on May 18.

Organized by the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Water Resources, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, the WCIFIT is based on the theme of “Joining Hands with the West for a Brighter Future.”

Malaysia will be the guest country of honor, and Sichuan and Gansu provinces will be the guest provinces of honor at the event, to demonstrate western China's latest achievements in terms of digital transformation.

Three display pavilions will be created, occupying a total area of 180,000 square meters, and will be available to the public from 12 pm on May 18.

So far, 36 countries and regions, as well as 26 places in China, have signed up for the fair. Key State-owned enterprises, such as CNPC and SINOPEC, Fortune 500 companies, and popular technology and e-commerce companies, including Huawei, Tencent and Pinduoduo, will also participate.

The event will feature forums and conferences on the development of consumption in Chinese cities, the high-quality development of transnational operations, and free trade pilot zones.

The WCIFIT has been held four times and has become an influential investment promotion convention for West China.
