The China (Chongqing)-European Union (EU) Member Economic, Trading, and Cultural Cooperation Exchange Conference was held in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, on May 25.
The significant event brought together ambassadors from 18 EU member countries in China, along with consul generals representing these nations in Sichuan and Chongqing, and representatives from the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China.
The conference served as a platform to deepen cooperation and foster exchanges between Chongqing and the EU in various fields, including commerce, trade, science and technology, and culture. Against the backdrop of the EU and China being each other's second-largest trading partners in 2022, Chongqing has been actively pursuing collaborations and partnerships with the EU, demonstrating its commitment to strengthening economic ties and facilitating mutual growth.
As part of the conference, the EU delegation had the opportunity to visit the Sandvik Coromant Chongqing Center, situated in the Liangjiang New Area. Sandvik Coromant, a Swedish company renowned as a leading manufacturer and technology supplier of cutting tools headquartered in Sweden, showcased its operations and technological advancements during the visit.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
