The Chengdu-Chongqing free trade zone (FTZ) coordinated opening demonstration zone work session was held in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, on June 9.
Qin Shubin, deputy director of Liangjiang's administrative committee, highlighted the dynamic and innovative nature of both Liangjiang New Area and Chengdu Tianfu New Area, emphasizing their status as nationally recognized new development zones. He expressed the desire for the two areas to engage in fruitful collaborations in the realm of digital trade cooperation mechanisms and models, aiming to achieve notable outcomes and establish distinctive achievements in this field.
Ge Ling, a member of the Party work committee of Chengdu Tianfu New Area, highlighted the progress made in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle since its inception. Ge emphasized that the two regions have strengthened their collaboration in areas such as innovation, industry development, and opening-up initiatives. They have conducted four themed meetings and jointly established a flagship alliance comprising eight industries, further enhancing connectivity and cooperation between the cities.
The meeting was also addressed by representatives from the two new areas' customs, chambers of commerce, and courts, followed by signing the digital trade collaboration platform cooperation agreement between Liangjiang and Tianfu.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
