A China-Europe (Chongqing-Guangzhou) freight train loaded with European timber arrived at Guoyuan Port in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, from Nansha Port in Guangzhou. The goods were originally sent from the Port of Wilhelmshaven in Germany.
This marked the opening of the Germany-Guangzhou-Chongqing route after the Port of Wilhelmshaven, Guoyuan Port and Nansha Port signed a strategic cooperation agreement in April.

The two-way freight train from Guoyuan Port to Nansha Port began to run officially in June 2022, helping Chongqing and Guangzhou integrate into the dual circulation paradigm. Relying on the multimodal transport network centered on Guoyuan Port, the freight train operates throughout Southwest China and regions along the Yangtze River. It now operates twice a week.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
