Currently, Liangjiang New Area has attracted 780 high-tech companies as of the first half of this year, ranking first in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality. The selection of high-tech companies is mainly based on enterprises' scientific and technological innovation capabilities, including core independent intellectual property rights, technology transfer capabilities, R&D organizations, management level, and various growth indicators.
According to Yu Jingqiu, the deputy director of the science and technology innovation bureau in the new area, Liangjiang is consistently improving the innovation capabilities of companies in the automotive, electronic information, and equipment manufacturing industries.
For example, Chongqing CRRC Railway Vehicles Co, located in the new area, has become a leading equipment manufacturer and the world's most extensive monorail vehicle research and manufacturing base, providing nearly 3,000 urban rail vehicles for domestic and foreign markets.
According to the work plan for increasing high-tech and technology-based enterprise numbers from 2023 to 2027, by 2025, the number of high-tech enterprises in Liangjiang will reach 1,350.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
