The Action Plan for Accelerating the Construction of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor in Liangjiang New Area (2023-2027) was recently officially released.

According to the plan, by 2027, the New Western Land-Sea Corridor (Guoyuan Port) should report more than 6,000 freight train trips, transporting over 300,000 TEUs of containers and increasing the new area's total foreign trade to 400 billion yuan ($55.72 billion).

Qin Shubin, deputy director of the Liangjiang's administrative committee, stated that the new area will fully leverage its role as a juncture for the Belt and Road Initiative and the Yangtze River Economic Belt, accelerate the development of a multimodal transportation system, and promote an open and integrated economy.

According to the plan, Liangjiang will focus on improving infrastructure, building a multimodal transportation system, enhancing the integration of modern logistics, deepening institutional reforms and innovation, strengthening the development of digital information infrastructure, upgrading logistics parks, and expanding the scale of market entities.

These efforts aim to promote the digital connection between the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, the Yangtze River Golden Waterway and the China-Europe freight train, facilitating the informational interconnection of logistics, warehousing, freight forwarding, stations, ports, and terminals within the new area.

In the first eight months of this year, the New Western Land-Sea Corridor (Guoyuan Port) operated a total of 404 freight trips, a surge of 43 percent year-on-year.
