During the eight-day holiday spanning National Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival, Liangjiang New Area in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality reported resilient consumption, with major commercial and trading businesses reporting 470 million yuan ($65.47 million) in sales, a surge of 10 percent.
A flagship store of the auto brand Changan Deepal in Liangjiang received over 150 potential car buyers and sold 36 vehicles during the period.
The local government began subsidizing car purchases on Sept 23, allowing buyers at designated auto shops to receive gas-filling cards or shopping cards worth 3,000-15,000 yuan.
With these subsidies, Liangjiang registered 225 million yuan in car sales, up 12.5 percent year-on-year.
